Brogan Renshaw founded Firewire Digital in Newcastle, NSW in 2017 and runs it today as Director and Innovation Lead. Across nine years of operation, Firewire engagements have delivered $300M+ in cumulative client revenue across e-commerce, legal, tourism, property, government and B2B services. He is personally active in client strategy on every active engagement.
His approach to search marketing is shaped by formal research training: a Bachelor of Social Science from Western Sydney University and a Masters of Policy and Applied Social Research from Macquarie. That background became a data-led methodology in practice: keyword-to-revenue mapping against the client P&L, weekly walkthroughs framed in finance terms, and a refusal to optimise for metrics that do not move the revenue line.
From 2017 to 2024 he built Firewire as an SEO-first agency, then integrated Google Ads as a co-equal service from 2020. The current chapter is Generative Engine Optimisation. Brogan co-founded Edge of Search, Australia's only dedicated AI search conference, and creates the AI On Fire newsletter (one AI tactic for search marketers, every Friday), both as evidence that the GEO category is being shaped from the work, not from a deck.
Inside the agency he architects the AI-native operating layer that Firewire runs on. The Marko client intelligence platform, the 50+ Claude Code agent ecosystem, and eight MCP integrations across Google Ads (Otto), Meta Ads (Pipeboard), Ahrefs, Notion, Google Drive, Gmail, Slack and an internal data layer. The point of the stack is the operating model: senior-level work at the agency's scale, daily account monitoring at a cadence weekly-cycle agencies cannot match.
What he is most known for inside Firewire is the rule the agency has held to since founding: clients should work directly with the senior strategist running their account. There is no tier-two review layer, no account management hierarchy, no scaling beyond what the flat model can carry.
